Complaint Resolution Options

Your Satisfaction

Van Buren Community Mental Health wants you to be satisfied with our services. It is very important to us. A lot of effort is made to provide our services according to your liking. Sometimes you may disagree with your services. You can take t he following steps if you disagree with us.

Options

  1. You may ask your assigned worker to make changes if you don’t like something about your services. We will talk about your services and try to work out any problems.
  2. You may ask to speak to your assigned worker’s supervisor
  3. Call for a second opinion if you believe you have been wrongly denied mental health services or psychiatric hospitalization.
  4. You may file a Recipient Rights/Customer Services complaint. You may ask for a form or call (269) 782-7604.
  5. If you have Medicaid, you may ask for a formal Medicaid Fair Hearing. You may ask us for this form. A Fair Hearing may be used instead of, or along with, other choices to settle differences.
  6. If you do not have Medicaid, you may ask to have an “ Alternative Dispute Resolution Hearing ” from the Department of Community Health.
  • First you must take your complaint to the local Recipient Rights/Customer Services.
  • You may ask for an “ Alternative Dispute Resolution Hearing ” before 10 days go by if your are unhappy about the Recipient Rights/Customer Services results

Important Information

You may ask for any of the following people to help you if you decide on any of the options to settle a disagreement with us.

  • your assigned worker from CMH,
  • the Member Services Representative, and/or
  • the Recipient Rights/Customer Services Representative

Any of these people will be happy to help you through the process.

You also have the right to have the help of an advocate of your choice.
